Introduction

“Pharmacy is the branch of health sciences that deals with the preparation and dispensing of drugs. Its aim is to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs”.

Pharmacists are the experts and health professionals who have done their studies in medicines. They can use their knowledge of medicines for the benefit of patients.
The pharmacy field can primarily be divided into three disciplines:-

  • Pharmacutics

  • Pharmacy Practice

  • Medicinal Chemistry & Pharmacognosy

Courses:-

Pharm.D(Doctorate in Pharmacy)

Duration:- 6 years (5 years of study and one year of internship or residency)

Eligiblity:- Candidates who have passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/ Computer Science / Biotechnology / Biology.
A pass in D Pharma from PCI approved institution/equivalent examination.

M.Pharm( Masters in Pharmacy)

Specialization
M. Pharmacy - Pharmaceutics
M. Pharmacy - Pharmacology
M. Pharmacy - Quality Assurance
M. Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Duration:- 2 Years
Eligiblity:-50% marks obtained in Bachelor of pharmacy(Bpharm) from any recognized university or equivalent.

B Pharma (Bachelor of Pharmacy)

Duration:- 4Years

3 years for Lateral Entry
Eligiblity:-Pass in Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm)
Pass in Plus Two with 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology. In place of Biology, Biotechnology or Computer science or Maths are also eligible..

DPharma(Diploma in Pharmacy)

Duration:-2 Years
Eligiblity:-17 years and above.
Requires a pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology.

BPT(Bachelor in Physiotherapy)

Duration:-4 ½ years followed by 6 months Hospitalinternship.
Eligiblity:-Candidates over 17 years of age are eligible to apply. The candidate must have passed 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th Grade or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology with a minimum of 45% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
